"When I was there if we couldn't get someone to bring back BLTS we would sneak out through the back of our cabins, circle around the back of the camp and head to the Lair for those delicious BLTS and orange soda. "

  • Sung to the tune of “The Magnificent Seven”
    Charging into battle
    Spirits never rattled
‘Cause the Gray Knights will fight to win
    Fight to win
And then take over the World.

  • Not a whole lot of activity on the site recently, eh Lew?

  • Hi Lew,
Russell, Todd and I visited Pete Stolar last summer, at his horse ranch , near Saratoga.
We discussed having a get-together at his place, during the summer.I'll check with him,
to see if he'd still like to do it.We'd have to sleep elsewhere. I'll get back to you , if it's
o.k. with him. Regards from the Glicksterns, Bernie

  • Greatness at that camp was expressed in different ways I guess I was trying to say that the Legends of the camp were either great athletes like George Hurdle who was a one in a million athlete or yourself who was a one in a million people person
  • Lew, Smooth may be a poor choice of words When I think back to those days you were the one person who bridged the gap between campers and counselors of all ages and got along really well with everyone Its smooth in the sense that you were and are great with people Not smooth in the slick sense but smooth in the ability to get along with everyone
  • It's funny. I remember so little about the actual people at Balfour despite spending many years there and remembering it as some of the most wonderful times in my life. I remembered Bennet Lipper and hunted him down on Facebook earlier this year, and he turned me on to this site. Looks great. Maybe it will spur more memories.
  • Excellent full camp photo. I'm dead center, second row from the top, between Donny Becker and Alan Kaufman. Donny's older brother is behind us. I forget his name. But I do remember that he dated Andy Schoenberg's sister who was the camp secretary.
  • Hey Lew. Thanks for putting the site up. Great fun.
  • Lew, Neal told me about this web site that you put together. Thank you. I was up in the area a few years back and could not resist stopping by. While only two buildings remain, the memories of the fun stand firm.
  • The fountain of youth really is in Patchogue. It's called the Brickhouse Brewery.

    I don't look the same.
I'm 35 years older, significantly taller and, yes, heavier.
