Tell us about yourself

I've been living in Seattle, Washington since 1984 -- surroundings of mountains and waters for which summers in the Adirondacks were a foretaste. Professionally, I'm a partner in a boutique law firm focused on software business law (in the law of Microsoft, Amazon.com, and numerous start-ups). I've been married since 1992; no kids. Outside work interests shouldn't surprise my Balfour buddies -- the outdoors (add sea kayaking to the hiking and camping) and music (I play 1st trumpet in a symphony orchestra); we also collect Pacific NW Coast Native Art. My brother Stuart (who was at Balfour 1970-73) visited the camp's property last summer on an upstate NY trip with his wife and two children; he took some good photos of how it looks today. Regards to all my long-lost friends from my camp days. Kudos to LEw Bader for setting this up. Since my last summer at BLC in 1972, I kept up for a while with Seth Borgos (I did some pro bono legal work in 1982 for the community organizing group ACORN, for which Seth was working in D.C. at the time) and Bob Martin (saw him in Scotland in 1976). I recently reconnected with Harvey Kojan via Facebook. With the passage of almost 37 years since my last summer at Balfour, it's quite a kick to see this community get started on the Internet. Best, Jonathan Feil

  • Remember when the entire camp played Hide and Seek? It was the counselors that hid themselves. You were the last one and I found you in a shed, behind the mess hall. You had a poncho pulled over you and I hit you with a 24" pipe wrench! To your credit, you didn't utter a peep.
  • Jonathan- you look exactly the same! I'm in the Pacific NW, also, but on the eastern edge-Sandpoint, ID. We occasionally go to Seattle to be tourists or climb in the N Cascades, etc.
