Charging into battle
Spirits never rattled

Fight to win
And then take over the World.

  • Alan,  Good seeing the old pictures of you yesterday.  Would have loved to chat off line.  I love your lifestyle, great stuff.  All The Best, Ross T

  • Great to see you too. It would have been nice to have break-out groups and have had the chance to really reminisce.

  • Alan - I really remember you very well. I had such a great time in camp. You convinced me to climb Mt Marcy and loved it. We were so young then and it truly went by so quick. Both my kids have enjoyed camp life and I am so glad I was able to send them. Yes you and Ross were my counslor's. I also had Lew B for a few and had to learn and love the Kinks. Hope this comment finds you well with happiness and just know you mad a kids summer one of the best times in my life.

  • Good to hear from you too...thanks for the info on gary.  Sad.  Say hi to Bennet.

  • Hi Alan, I would have to go back and look at bunk pictures to remember that.  A couple of counselors I remember having were Bennet Lipper and Gary Fader.  I feel bad don't remember all the others.  I was there with my older brother Jeff, and my good friend who I still speak to Darren Turner.  Darren and I both turned 55 this year.  I also still talk to Bernie Krooks who is the same age and had two younger brothers who went to Balfour around the same time.  I see Ken Wedeen has been posting here and he was in my bunk at least twice and for some reason my memory of Ken says he was from oceanside?  Acouple of other names from bunk mates that I rememember in no particular order, Larry Reisman, Peter Wolfson (Bernie is still in touch with him),  I've seen plenty of familiar names on the Balfour facebook reunion page which I unfortunately missed.  I'm going to guess you are a year or two older than me and may know my brother Jeff.

  • Yes I am the older brother "Lumpy".  Joe is the younger  one. I think I remember you as well.  Nice photo montage.  It was really great seeing all that attended,, this web site is adding even more, thanks..

  • I still live in nyc.One wife, one daughter but did not save the striped bell bottoms.
  • All those names ring a bell.I remember some relentless bullying on a kid named Laurence Friedman.Laurence from Lawrence. I was glad I was not him.Mostly really pleasant memories of a no frills camp (even though i did not know about frills back then). The music of those times definitely is the soundtrack i hear when i think about balfour.I also thought i remember some counselors going to woodstock for the weekend and some not returning to camp.

  • I remember you too.The names you mentioned are familiar but man it was a long time ago. It does make me smile thinking back on it though.
  • Yes sir!!! It was such a great time at Balfour!! I remember Bunk 8 like it was yesterday and now having sent my kids to camp and now College... It was a special time. I also do recall that you lived in Malverne and I stiff often go to Malverne to the Movies as well as Sandy Lanes. Good to hear from you. Have you heard about David Garrow LOL
