Tell us about yourself

Ok guys I think the last name pretty much gives it away. Immediately following my birth in 1962, Bernie & Phyllis decided to purchase Balfour. So I guess you can say I was pretty much born there. These pictures bring back very dear childhood memories of wonderful summers spent up at Balfour. I now live in Chicago with my three children (ages 22, 20 & 16).

  • Hi Todd,

Great seeing you last night, what a wonderful time.  Your Dad was excellent yesterday, he looks wonderful.

    Best Regards,

    Ross T

  • Can't remember, but I don't think it was Richie.  I have a camp photo from one of those years in the back of my closet somewhere,  I'll try to pull it out, scan and post it.  Looking over the faces might spur some more recognition.

  • Todd:  You were in my bunk my first year at Balfour (I think that was 1969).  I was  waterfront staff (sailing counselor).

  • Todd,
Things sound great with you and your family!
Hope all is well with your folks and Russell. I know he is in Westchester, not sure where.
Nice memory of us in the All Star game - fun back then playing softball huh? I played for many years after but none as fun as those days.
I still listen to and see Tower all the time with my boys and friends - they come to town twice a year and actually know us by now.
    All the best,
    Ross
  • Todd,

Great to hear from you. My sister in law and best friend from college both live in and around Chicago. I love that city...when it's warm. I'm not skating anymore - knee surgery 2 years ago, but have been coaching my boys for 15 years. My 19 year old is at Lafayette College in PA and my 16 year old is a jr at Seaford HS. I didn't move far :-) How's the rest of the family? Parents well? Mine are in Lake Worth FL dodging hurricanes. I'll bet yours are too. Stay in touch.

    Bobby

  • Well, while I might root for the Sox my loyalty is still to the Mets. Suffice it to say I kept a low profile up here in 1986!
  • 6-12...and it cost 98 cents which is why Socolow called it that. I think he actually wrote the song with Ray Kotcher. Gary and I were latecomers to that party. I did play the youtube. Having lived those times and been directly involved in the peace movement, it brought back a lot of memories. Thanks for sharing.
  • Thanks for the credit on For What it's Worth (98 cents!) Paul was the genius behind the parody. I still remember the kids all marching back to the bunks singing the song and your dad absolutely loving it. He really beleived it was great spirit.
