Of course I remember Marty, but we haven't been in touch at all. I'll try to check the Alumni site.
Did you remember a guy at F&M named Marty Friedman? He and I were pretty close friends from Merrick as kids. I'd love to find out where he is these days.
Hey Bobby, I can't believe I missed your response. So sorry. I have two kids, Michael (almost 16) and Amy (19). Amy is a sophomore at Michigan. A true Wolverine. As I remember, I recall that harvey Kojan wrote our 1968 color war song to the Wolverine fight song. I've been divorced since 2007. I live in Summit NJ which is close to where my son is. I don't make it to the Island too much but I did get out to Bethpage to see the US Open when it was there. So cool to see the course brought back from the dead. Do you still play golf? Is that your huge son in the football pic?
Regards,
Matt
I remember floor hockey in the gym, our crazy hippie counselors, pizza parties in Bernie's cabin, golf at Schroon lake, Freihofer's chocolate chip cookies, being a lieutenant in color war, bunk inspections, chipmunks eating the ritz crackers sent from home, spraying snackmate cheese directly into our mouths and so many other things.
My favorite memories of you though were:
1. Throwing up on cue at our dinner table in the mess hall when the counselor made you eat the vegetables (even after warning him that you would), and
2. Whistling the Star Spangled Banner while eating a sleeve of saltines during the color war Apache relay.
Hope you and your family are doing great!
Best,
Matt Roggenburg
