Do You Remember That Hilarious Parody Of "Wild Thing"?

Can't say for certain, but I'm pretty sure Paul Socolow was responsible for it. Paul went on to a very successful career as a renowned bass player -- just Google his name and you'll see.

Anyway, I'm gonna guess it was relatively early in my Balfour days -- mid-to-late '60s -- that Paul first performed "Wild Schmidt" ... his stirring tribute to Balfour's illustrious chef. Pretty sure it went like this:

"Wild Schmidt" (to the tune of the Troggs "Wild Thing")

Wild Schmidt
You cook the shit, Schmidt
You make me vomit, Schmidt
Wild Schmidt

Senta
I think I love you
But I wanna know for sure
C'mon ... make me some of your potato pancakes
They MOVE me
BOWEL move me

(Senta -- not sure of the spelling -- was Otto's wife)

  • Okay Harvey - Rules of the sight. read 'em again. No profanity. But, this is such a classic we'll let it slide this time.

Here's the funny thing. I was making potato latkes this morning to bring to my son's house. I was singing the song the entire morning and just came on the site to find this.

Paul was an amazing musician when he was young and is a great one today. I'll check with him on the lyrics next time I see him
  • I distinctly remember the bowel move me part. It's funny the things that get stuck in your mind.
