Tell us about yourself

Dear Lew, I'll get back to you in a short while, since this weekend is going to be extremely busy for me. Anyway I'm really excited to hear from you after all these years! Do you remember Mary Savarie and Diane Moose (daughter of Bill Moose, the camp handyman)? They were two local girls who helped out in Balfour Lake Camp, a kind of TWC's. Last May I went back to the Adirondacks and stayed a couple of days with... Mary! I hadn't seen her since '69 and managed to find her via the Internet. It was a fantastic reunion. We had been writing to eachother off and on for a couple of years after that notorios summer (for me, anyway) and than...life got in the way. Mary Hall (as she is called now) runs an adventurous hiking and canooing club, with a friend. We had loads of fun, reminisced a lot, and visited what is left of Balfour Lake Camp... A lot of memories of you, Lew, are crowding to get in now... I promise to get back to you, because there must be a lot of things to tell eachother. Since 1969 I have been coming back to the US every two years and I can safely say that I know my way pretty well around your country! It is such a FANTASTIC continent to travel around in, enjoying incredible hospitality... Bye for now, Jan

  • How great to hear from you Jan. I was back at Balfour this past May and stopped at Sullivan's in Olmsteadville. I asked the girl behind the counter if the Moose family still lived in town and she said their kids do. When I asked about Diane a man standing there said, "Yes. She lives here. She's my wife." Talk about a small world, Well. Minerva is a pretty small place. Kind of depressing to go back and see what's left of the camp, but somehow what's left speaks to me still. When you come back to the US we'll have to get together.
